============================================================= = = = 2003 The Hai-Hwa Cup Softball Tournament 5/10/03 = = = ============================================================= Date: May 10th - June 15th (May 10, 11, 17, 18, 31 and June 1, 7, 8, 14, 15) Location: Columbus park (Taylor by Coleman, close to San Jose Airport) Registration Fee: $250 Security Deposit: $100 (Each forfeit penalty is $50, two forfeits will result in disqualification for the games) Make checks payable to "Robert Chen"( TWO SEPARATE CHECKS) Mail registration form and checks to: Mike Dey 1275 Regency Dr. San Jose, CA. 95129 Due date: April 20th, 2003 (by post stamp). (Please also include a return envelop with stamp and address for returning Security Deposit after the tournament.) Note: To complete the registration, both checks and application form should be received before April 20th, 2003. No registration will be accepted after due date. (No email registration, but pls email me you have registered.) Rules: (PLEASE READ ALL THE RULES BEFORE YOU REGISTER!!!) 1) A/AA-league : Best 8 teams according to previous tournament standings decided by League Director. 2) B/BB-league : The rest of teams (not including Co-ed teams). 3) C-league : Co-ed, 3 females , 7 males. (at most 4 A-league players allowed) 4) One player only represents one team in A/B leagues except C league with restrictions. 5) Only Chinese American players are qualified. Game is forfeited if any illegal players found. 6) League director has the right to deny the team with non-qulaified players. 7) Any player not listed in the application form will not be allowed to play. 8) No mercy rule and score limit in each inning. 9) Maximum 7 innings or 70 minutes each game. Umpire will inform both teams in last inning. 10) Game could be tied except playoff. 11) One pitch-runner allowed for each team in each inning. 12) Players without any NUMBER are not allowed to play. This is mandatory. Team T-shirt/ jersey is required. 13) 10 players (Min 6 players; 4M, 2F (7M/3F) for Co-ed ). Slow Pitch (6 to 12 ' arch). 14) 25 feet commitment line from the 3rd base to the home base is applied. 15) No need to step on the home base in order to score. Warning will be issued for the first player and counted as an out for the rest of the offenders. 16) Start with one strike and one ball. One fault is allowed. Two faults are counted as strikeout. 17) No lead off. No stealing. No bunt. Max 15 runs for each inning for all leagues. 18) Batting order must be on the line-up card for ten players. Additional players are allowed to be added to the batting order. But once the player is added, he/she will not be allowed to drop except the injury. 19) Level C is a modified Co-Ed. Two female players are required to station in the infield except the pitcher and catcher. Three defense positions are reserved for female only, no male substitution. 20) For level-C, the batting order should be: M M F ,Any missing F will be counted as an OUT. 21) Game time is also the forfeit time if no enough players (60%) come to play. 22) Managers or captains are responsible for the result of scoresheet. Verify with umpire at the end of game. 23) First forfeit costs $50. Second forfeit costs $50 and will result in being dropped from the tournament. Each forfeited game is scored as 0 to 21. 24) ASA rules are applied to the rules which are not specified above. Leagues: I. A/AA League's first round and playoff: (1) The 8 teams of A/AA league will be divided into Group X and Group Y based on previous standings. (2) Round robbin in each X an Y group. Then the best 2 teams from X and Y groups form the A-League. And the rest of 4 teams form the AA-League. So the best 2 teams from X group will be named as A1 and A2; and the best 2 teams from Y group will be named as A3 and A4. The rest of 2 teams from X group will be named as AA1 and AA2; and the rest of 2 teams from Y group will be named as AA3 and AA4. (3) Round robbin in each A and AA-League. However, the teams from the same group (X or Y) don't play against each other again. Only the related score in previous round will carry over to this round for final ranking. (4) A and AA-League playoff. (1st vs. 4th, 2nd vs. 3rd, then championship game) II. B/BB and C league's first round and playoff: To be decided by the total number of teams in each league. III. Prize: One team trophy for 1st and 2nd places in each league. No indivisual 1st place trophies due to budget.
